As of tonight (August 13, 2009), we will officially be OUT of our start up space in rear of Wissahickon Charter School. We have no solid plans for our next move, and welcome ideas you might have! In the meantime, PTLC meetings happen every Thursday from 4:45-6:45. Email me (cpuntel@philasd.org) if you would like a schedule.
In the meantime, have a wonderful summer's end and a super start to your school year.

We are starting the TeacherSPACE center to offer opportunities for teachers and parents in the city to network, share resources, and strengthen their own practice as educators.

I think the ideal location for the PTLC TeacherSPACE would be in the new Please Touch Museum now located in the Centennial Building in Fairmont Park. The link between a museum specifically for young children and teachers wanting the best for their students is a natural.
For years the Children's Museum in Boston had a center where teachers could purchase "reuse" materials at very low cost for use in their classrooms. often these were byproducts of factory products. I remember purchasing castoff lenses, probably from the production of disposable cameras - it was great to have a lens for each student to investigate at a very low price. I am fairly convinced that this was evidence of a teachers center located in the museum.
I definitely think it would be worth approaching Please Touch to see if they have some extra space where they could host PTLC.
